Hey there! I'm Marnellie Bishop, your go-to doula and childbirth educator with a touch of warmth, friendliness, and humor. I'm here to support you on your amazing perinatal journey with honesty and a whole lot of love. I've got some awesome certifications under my belt, including being a birth and postpartum doula, as well as a childbirth educator. But that's not all! I'm also a Hypnobabies® Instructor and Hypno-Doula, and soon-to-be Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator (September 2024), bringing even more knowledge and expertise to the table. In the beautiful Portland, OR community, I go above and beyond as a board member and Chief Finance & Operations officer at Community Doula Alliance. I'm truly dedicated to making a positive impact and supporting families in every way possible. I'm also certified as a Birth Doula for the Traditional Health Worker Registry, showing my commitment to bridging communities and health systems. I understand the importance of person and community-centered care, and I'm all about advocating for Oregon Health Plan members and empowering individuals to take charge of their own health.

Before diving into the world of doula work, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and used my expertise to help grow and sell my family's printing company. As a 2nd generation immigrant with Filipino parents, I totally get the unique challenges that immigrant families face when it comes to parenting styles and cultural backgrounds. I'm super passionate about helping growing families feel empowered and confident in their own journey through parenthood. The Pacific Northwest is where my roots run deep, and I proudly call Portland my "forever home." When I'm not busy supporting families, you can find me enjoying quality time with my amazing husband, two active kiddos, and adorable Lagotto Romagnolo dog. We're always on the move, whether it's traveling, trying out watersports, or diving into fun DIY projects.

With over 6 years of experience, I've supported over 200 families as a birth doula, postpartum doula, and childbirth educator. My warm, friendly, and supportive nature will make you feel like you have a true partner by your side throughout your perinatal journey. Get ready to embark on this incredible adventure with me, Marnellie Bishop, your doula extraordinaire!

Alma Doula Edwina Koch

Edwina Koch

She/her

A passion for birth is an understatement… I am obsessed! I believe every parent should have the opportunity to be guided by a doula as an emotional, physical, and informational support. In fact, my first job ever was at the Prenatal Yoga Center in New York City shadowing Deb Flashenberg and it is there that my love for birth and the connection between breath, body, and baby truly was born!

Aside from my doula life, I have always been a dancer and mover. Studying yoga and dance for the last 13 years has helped me become aware of how powerful the body can be and I use that work in many ways in my day to day life. A few more fun facts about me, I am originally from the New York area and at the age of 19, I moved to France to study the language and integrate myself into the culture and become a complete francophile. I love languages and my dream is to speak at least three of them! I am currently working on my spanish. I moved to the PNW in 2020 because the green lush nature called to my city-roots. I have not regretted my decision for one second. If you are looking for an energy-filled, passionate, and compassionate birth doula, look no further!

Alma Doula Heidi Long

Heidi Long

She/her

As a Doula in Portland Oregon, I have dedicated myself to this line of heartfelt work because I believe that an empowering birth is possible with the right support team and mindset. I understand the unpredictable and wonderfully unique nature of each birth and am honored to guide all my clients with deep listening, attunement, empathy, specialized care, and a grounded presence. I have a deep respect for the rites of passage mothers and families go through and honor the transitional nature of each process with steady care and gentle reverence.

My Birth Doula style really encompasses supporting movement, massage, breath work, & utilizing the primal voice. I encourage my client’s to dance, sway, moan, groan, growl, rest, nourish, hydrate, ask for help, find their birth rhythm AND take it one step at a time…

As an Overnight Postpartum Doula, I love taking my support one step further. Bringing a baby home can feel delicate & overwhelmingly exciting! Rest is #1 for recovery for both parents. I offer overnight support to families who value rest, mental health, and proper postpartum healing. I offer my services to you and your family during the wee hours of the night and early morning so you can recover faster. I love supporting each family’s unique feeding & infant sleep journey. I am here for all of the subtle ways you and your baby will change and grow over the months I get to love & support your family.

In addition to being a Doula, I have enhanced my practice by offering professional Birth & Family Photography for the families I have the honor of supporting as a Doula! We take a deep dive together when I capture the excitement of having a "Baby Bump" with a Maternity Photo Session. Showing up in the raw & wild birth space as a Birth Photographer magnifies the joy I have for my birth work! Each role complementing the other. And lastly, when it is time to bring your baby home, I revel in showing my families the LOVE that I see behind my lens for our Newborn & Family Photo Sessions.

Thank you for considering me! With love & reverence,

Heidi

Alma Doula Natalie Broders

Natalie Broders

She/her

Hi, I'm Natalie! Trained as a birth & labor doula, postpartum doula, birth photographer and childbirth educator, some people might say I'm a birth nerd. From how to prepare before birth, to common interventions, navigating hospital birth, optimal body positioning, choosing the right birth center, and having a home birth, I'm your new BFF & walking birth encyclopedia. And if I don't know something, I have the humility to say so and I'll look for the evidence-based information to answer your questions. I see myself as a lifelong learner, always seeking out the latest and most up to date information.

At your birth, I offer advocacy, physical, emotional and verbal support. My goal is to empower you to make the decision that’s best for you, based on the evidence and your own intuition, so you have the birth you've been dreaming of. I'll help remind you of all those things you read in that book or practiced in your childbirth education class. I know how to support your partner in supporting you, so when your partner places that cool cloth on your forehead, or gives you a sip of water, it's them you're thanking, not me.

For me, birth work is an all-consuming passion and my greatest source of joy. I’ve always known that what I do should have a deeper purpose, feel sacred, and connected to a higher pursuit. I’m driven by this fire that’s alive inside of me for birth - this is something I was born to do.

In addition to doula support, I also document birth stories as a birth photographer. After my own incredible water birth experience I felt so F-ing victorious! But all the pictures I have are blurry... I'll always regret not having professional photos to show my daughter the day she was born. That's how my love for birth photography started, and now I've won several international awards and accolades for my work.

Who I am: I have a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. I have two kids, both born with midwives, one at a birth center and one at home. I use swear words on the regular. Informed choice is important to me, expect lots of information sharing. I want us to spend time together, connecting and listening. You are important to me. I dedicate a lot of time to learning who you are and what you want for your birth.

Alma Doula Jennah Lupiwok

Jennah Lupiwok

She/her

I’m Jennah and I believe in preparing for birth from the inside out. After three years of attending births, what I know for sure is that preparation isn’t found in a book or a checklist. It lives in the nervous system. It lives in how we relate to intensity, trust, and surrender.

I became a doula because I was captivated by the body, the mystery of creation, and the way birth transforms us forever. I have trained extensively in full-spectrum birthwork, studying closely with four mentors who expanded how I see birth, physiology, nervous system states, and the emotional landscape of support. I have spent over a year and a half immersed in programs that shaped me not just as a doula, but as a human.

I specialize in creating a soft and steady field in the birth space, even in complex or clinical environments. I believe birth is a transformational experience no matter where it happens. The magic cannot be stripped from it.

I don’t believe there is one way to prepare for birth or one right way to support it. I meet you where you are, listen to who you are becoming, and guide you inward toward steadiness and trust.

Outside of birthwork, you’ll often find me cooking, hiking, or crocheting something. I am here for the mystery, the mess, and the truth that birth changes all of us.

If you are looking for someone who goes deeper than the surface and stands with you through the unfolding, welcome. I am so glad you found me, and I cannot wait to see what opens next.

Alma Doula Sivan Dirks

Sivan Dirks

She/her

Hi, I'm Sivan a medicine woman who fell hard over heels in love with everything pre-postnatal and birth support. I’m a mama of 3 beautiful humans who have sparked and initiated again and again my deep curiosity about this life altering journey and the tremendous power it holds.

Drawing from my own experience of having 3 very different births (one at a hospital, one at Alma birth center and one at home) I know that an empowered positive birth experience is more than just good luck. It is a deep inner process that is nourished by conscious birth preparation and a dedicated support team who believe in your power and vision.

As an experienced birth keeper with over 10 years of clinical practice as an acupuncturist specializing in pre-postnatal and birth care I have had the honor and pleasure of helping many families navigate this important transformative time and ease the transition with confidence and compassion.

As your birth doula I will provide non judgmental, evidence based, continuous personalized care so you can feel heard, nurtured and respected every step of the way. You deserve the best!

My hope is to help you reach your full birth potential and support you in having a satisfying positive birth with all of its unique unfolding. What I care about is that you will have the birth experience that will leave you feeling empowered, feeling loved and trusted. It is my wish that you come out of the experience feeling stronger and capable so you can start your parenting journey with joy and serenity.

As an acupuncturist and herbalist specializing in pre/postnatal care, birth and postpartum care I bring with me years of clinical practice that would be included as part of my care before during and after the birth.

My holistic approach fuses various natural therapies that are both safe and effective for you and your baby. My modalities include: acupuncture, custom made formulas, gentle bodywork and breath-work, Aroma Acupoint Therapy, moxa heat therapy, homeopathics, mindfulness, meditation, visualization intuitive energy therapy

I’ve also studied pediatric care and my services includes holistic new born wellness and support with feeding, muscular/structural alignments, overall digestion/immunity, colic, sleep, teething and developmental milestones.

I offer my signature Holistic Birth preparation to all my doula clients at a 50% discount as part of my doula package (could be billed directly to insurance if plan covers acupuncture).

The birth preparation starts at 34 weeks and continues until the big day! Sessions focus on overall strengthening, stress reduction, improve circulation, promote cervical ripening and optimal baby positioning to bring balance, promote physiology and reduction complications and unnecessary medical intervention.
